The next edition of the Venetian event celebrating the art of glass at a national and international level will take place from 4 to 17 September 2021. After the great success of the 2020 edition #TheHeartOfGlass, with over 62,000 visitors, Venice is determined to bring quality “making glass” back to the centre of the city’s rebirth. In 2020, many new initiatives aimed at involving as many publics as possible with a mix of physical and digital events, always in compliance with anti-Covid rules: 180 initiatives both online and in the city between Venice, Murano and Mestre, with exhibitions, guided tours, conferences, awards ceremonies, activities for families and open furnaces.
Among the official initiatives organised by the festival, the first edition of “The Floating Furnace”, promoted by the Consorzio Promovetro Murano, was a great success. For a week it brought glass processing outside the furnaces with open-air demonstrations held by Murano’s glassmakers. Among the digital appointments, on the other hand, the LIVE tours that were filmed on the official Instagram @theveniceglassweek profile are particularly noteworthy: they allowed the web public and all enthusiasts who were unable to reach Venice to enter the magical places of glass working and give a voice to the masters at work through live demonstrations lasting 30 minutes.
